THE CHIKANKARI EDIT

This collection reimagines Chikankari embroidery through a modern lens. Developed during a one-month internship with a Chikankari-focused company, the project explores the embroidery's techniques, fabrics, and cultural relevance through firsthand industry experience.

Rather than applying Chikankari to traditional silhouettes, this project focuses on creating a western-style summer dress. The goal is to bring Chikankari into everyday wear—allowing the craft to be embraced in more casual, youthful, and contemporary settings. Soft fabric, subtle floral motifs, and a breezy silhouette come together to form a look that’s perfect for college days, summer events, or casual outings.

The collection aims to show that heritage techniques like Chikankari can evolve beyond occasionwear, making tradition accessible in modern wardrobes.
